Our Leadership

Founded Sterling in 1975. A knowledgeable professional with over 35 years of experience in the employment screening field, Mr. Greenblatt is a major thought leader and innovator in this arena. With vision and a commitment to technology, Mr. Greenblatt guided the business in the direction of employment screening, including criminal background checks, previous employment verification, educational credential verification and drug testing. Sterling was named one of the Inc. 5000 fastest-growing private companies in America in 2007, 2008, 2011 and 2013, as well as named by Deloitte & Touche LLP as one of the 500 fastest growing technology companies in North America and one of the 50 fastest growing technology companies in the New York area. In June 2006, Mr. Greenblatt was honored by Ernst and Young as the Entrepreneur of the Year. Mr. Greenblatt holds a bachelor's degree from the University of Maryland and a J.D. from Benjamin Cardozo School of Law.

Joined Sterling as President in May 2013. Ms. Hart is well known as an innovator and leader in the world of interactive data and business information services. Ms. Hart most recently served as president and CEO of Infogroup where she led efforts to reorganize the company from multiple independent silos to six client-focused lines-of-business under a united and enhanced Infogroup brand. Prior to Infogroup, Ms. Hart was president of the Dow Enterprise Media Group, which generated over $700 million in annual sales and included the Dow Jones Indexes, Dow Jones Newswires, Factiva, Dow Jones Licensing and Financial Information Services units. Ms. Hart also previously served as a founding member and ultimately president and chief executive officer of Factiva, when it was a joint venture of Dow Jones and Reuters.

Ms. Hart has won numerous awards for leadership and innovation including Inside Market Data’s 2010 Hall of Fame, where she was recognized as "The Visionary." She also served on the Direct Marketing Association and the Software and Information Industry Association boards, and is currently an advisory board member of both the Lubuto Library Project and The Women’s Venture Fund.

Ms. Hart holds a B.S. in Finance and Computer Systems Management from Drexel University and an M.B.A. from Rider University.

Joined Sterling in January 2014. Before joining Sterling, O’Brien spent much of his career in the telecommunications industry as CFO of Hawaiian Telcom, a former Verizon subsidiary, Global Crossing, Genuity and GTE Corporation. While at Genuity, he led the $2 billion initial public offering for the company as its chief financial officer. As CFO for GTE Corporation, he took a leading role in the company's merger with Bell Atlantic. This merger led to the formation of Verizon in June 2000. Most recently, O'Brien served as CFO of Jackson Hewitt, the tax preparation firm, where he worked to complete the debt restructuring for the company. O’Brien holds an M.B.A. from the University of Chicago Graduate School of Business and a B.S. from Boston College.

Joined the Sterling organization in April 2012 when BackCheck was acquired.

Dave Dinesen founded BackCheck in 1997. Dave is a leader and innovator within the pre-employment screening industry. He also founded Checkwell's Continuous Employee Feedback program for Employee Engagement and Retention, and established BackCheck in the United Kingdom. Under Dave's leadership, BackCheck has grown from a small business to a multi-site organization that serves thousands of employers. Previously, Dave co-founded and led a large investigation and due diligence firm.

Dave is a sought-after speaker on the topic of employment screening. Featured in a number of trade and general media articles, Dave has sat on a panel at a recent Canadian HR Council and has addressed the HRPAO conference, ASIS, the Atlantic HR Conference and the Canadian Association of Chiefs of Police. He is a member of the Human Resources Management Association (HRMA) of B.C., and the National Association of Professional Background Screeners (NAPBS).

Joined Sterling as President in 2000. Mr. Seldon has been responsible for growing Sterling's revenue by a factor of 20 times, making Sterling the fastest growing company in its industry. Mr. Seldon is responsible for new business development, the creation of corporate alliances, marketing initiatives and new products and services. He earned a B.A. and M.B.A. in Marketing from Hofstra University. He is a frequent speaker and commentator on hiring practices and policy development.

Joined Sterling as Chief Operating Officer in 2007. Ms. Schay is an operations management professional with rich experience in business process transformation, Six Sigma analysis and software implementation. Prior to joining Sterling, Ms. Schay held senior and strategic positions at Wolters Kluwer Corporate Legal Services (CLS). In addition, Ms. Schay spent six years as a principal management consultant at PricewaterhouseCoopers (PwC). At Sterling, Ms. Schay is responsible for continuous improvement of worldwide operations processes based on Lean Six Sigma principles as well as insuring strict adherence to ISO 9001 procedures. Ms. Schay also leads all of Sterling's Client Relations functions. Ms. Schay received her bachelor's degree from the College of William and Mary.

Joined Sterling as Chief Marketing Officer in September 2013. Ms. Mair is a seasoned marketer with a reputation for leading high-performing marketing teams at The Wall Street Journal, Dow Jones and Factiva. Prior to her role as vice president, consumer marketing and circulation for The Wall Street Journal, Ms. Mair led global marketing and corporate communications in the Enterprise Media Group, the B2B news and information services division of Dow Jones. Ms. Mair spent over nine years in sales and marketing with LexisNexis before joining Dow Jones. She is a graduate of Indiana University and University of Michigan’s Ross Business School Executive Leadership Program.

Joined Sterling in March of 2008. Mr. Lessard is a highly accomplished change leader with more than 10 years of experience in operations management, business transformation, mergers & acquisitions, business turnaround and continuous improvement.

Prior to his role of Chief Product Officer, Mr. Lessard was one of the key stakeholders in Sterling’s substantial inorganic growth since 2010 as Senior Vice-President of Mergers/Acquisitions & Transition Services where he has been responsible for the integration of newly acquired companies. Prior to joining Sterling, he held key leadership positions with a focus on operational transformation at Valassis Communications. In addition, Mr. Lessard spent five years working at Saint-Gobain in the High Performance materials division in progressive leadership and consulting roles while taking part in their leadership program.

Mr. Lessard holds a B.S. in Industrial Engineering and a M.S. in Engineering Management from the University of Western New England. His training and certifications include Lean Manufacturing (CLBM), 6 Sigma (Black Belt), Quality Controls (CQC), Project Management and Supply Chain management (APICS / CPIM).

Joined Sterling in July 2013 to lead Human Resources for Sterling worldwide. Ms. Buggy joined Sterling from Infogroup where she was Senior Director, Human Resources, and Talent Management. While at Infogroup, Ms. Buggy worked with the executive management team to rebuild the company’s entire talent function. This included redesigning domestic and international recruiting, training and development, human resource metrics for success, employee recognition, core competencies development, onboarding new employees, management training for new managers, targeted selection process for recruiting, intern programs and succession planning.

Prior to Infogroup, Ms. Buggy held progressively more senior HR positions at companies in the engineering, financial and technology industries. Ms. Buggy is a Magna Cum Laude graduate of Pace University and a SHRM certified Senior Professional in Human Resources.

Joined Sterling in 2003 and is a founding member of the Sterling India team. Mr. Vig has more than 12 years of experience in operations management in both services and manufacturing industries. He is responsible for Sterling’s global operations in the U.S., Europe and Asia.

Prior to his role as EVP-Global Operations, Mr. Vig was responsible for the development of Sterling's business center in Mumbai as CEO, Sterling India. He is recognized for his contributions in operational excellence, the application of Six Sigma principles and the transition & optimization of multiple programs using ‘Lean’ principles. Under his leadership, Sterling's business center has received and successfully maintained its ISO 9001:2008 certification and has grown to become a strategic part of Sterling's global delivery model.

Mr. Vig holds a B.S. degree in Industrial Chemistry from the University of Mumbai and is one of the founding members of the Indian Association of Professional Background Screeners (IAPBS).

Joined Sterling as General Counsel in 2012. Prior to Sterling, Mr. Porter served as General Counsel of Global Compliance Services, a leading provider of governance, risk management, and compliance solutions. Before Global Compliance, Mr. Porter was Vice President and Associate General Counsel at Dun & Bradstreet (D&B) for approximately twelve years. Prior to D&B, Mr. Porter served in the legal departments of AT&T and Automatic Data Processing, and was a corporate attorney in private practice in two large international law firms in New York. Mr. Porter holds a B.A. in Economics and Political Science from Yale University and a J.D. from the New York University School of Law.

Joined Sterling in October 2012. Mr. Cunningham leads all aspects of Sterling's Client Services and Account Management capabilities. He has more than 20 years of professional experience in general management, product development, marketing and strategic partnerships. Before joining Sterling, he held executive positions at Global Compliance and Dun & Bradstreet including SVP Global Analytics and SVP Global Risk Management Solutions where he was responsible for growing Dun & Bradstreet's flagship product line. Prior to Dun & Bradstreet, Mr. Cunningham held senior leadership positions with Prudential Financial and First USA Bank/Bank One. He has a B.A. from West Chester University.

Joined SterilngBackcheck in July 2014. Mr. Brodbeck leads a global technology team that is responsible for technology infrastructure, process automation and product innovation.

Prior to joining SterlingBackcheck, Mr. Brodbeck was CTO for Pearson PLC, the multinational publishing and education company. Other former roles include CTO and Global Head of Architecture & Engineering with Diageo, Chief Architect and Global Head of Architecture & Engineering for Pfizer, VP Enterprise Architecture for Merrill Lynch, and Lead Architect in the Fixed Income Technology Group at Deutsche Bank.

Joined SterlingBackcheck in May, 2014. Mr. Maguire leads the global sales and business development in the US, Canada and the U.K. Before joining SterlingBackcheck, Mr. Maguire was Vice President of Sales for On24, a cloud-based Webcasting and virtual communications company. Prior to On24, he was President of PrecisionIR Group, a provider of investor relations and Web-based corporate communications solutions. Mr. Maguire built his extensive sales experience at Dun & Bradstreet where he worked in a variety of roles for more than 20 years. In his final role with D&B, Mr. Maguire was Senior Vice President, U.S. Sales where he led a 345-person team in the Middle Market. Mr. Maguire holds a B.Sc. In Economics from Montclair State University.
